Salam Television is set to lead Ugandans in the nation’s biggest giving campaign this Ramadhan season, even bigger than years past.
Unlike previous years, the Ugandan Islamic television station under the Next Media Services umbrella is set to run at least three campaigns over the 30-or-so days of Ramadhan this year, including a fundraiser for the completion of the legendary Masjid Mbogo, Omumanyi wa Salam, and weekly educational symposiums featuring key Muslim scholars in different spheres of day-to-day life.
These were announced in an official launch event hosted at the state-of-the-art Next Conference Centre and broadcast LIVE on both NBS and Salam Television at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Over and above, Salam Television will also continue to reach out to needy communities and support them through Ramadhan.
“Carrying out all the activities stated above will not be at the expense of our humanitarian outreaches to the vulnerable brothers and sisters through Ramadhan – along with our partners, we shall continue supporting our various communities across Uganda with Iftar support,” said Hajji Karim Kaliisa, the Salam Television General Manager.
Hajji Kaliisa, among others, also extended appreciation to all Muslims who have joined us in our work towards mobilizing communities to self-dependency. He also applauded the Masjid Mbogo Construction Committee for the great work done in executing such a huge locally-funded project without any support from the Arab world.
Also present for the launch was the Supreme Khadhi of Kampala, Sheikh Idris Habib Luswabi, who called upon the faithful to embrace Ramadhan activities wholeheartedly, encouraging them to embark on efforts towards completing Masjid Mbogo.
Next Media Service Group CEO, Kin Kariisa, was represented by Deputy Group CEO Joseph Kigozi, who applauded Salam Television for its fundraising efforts towards the construction of Masjid Mbogo to its final stages that it is at today, also appealing to all partners to contribute more so the multi-billion project gets completed.
The launch event was moderated by the Next Media Services Head of Corporate Affairs, Desire Derekford Mugumisa, who also gave a vote of thanks to the various entities supporting these campaigns, namely; MTN Uganda, Stanbic Bank Uganda, Movit, Sumz Foods, Stabex, Italtex, Plascon, Coca Cola, Corporate Herbal, Jumia Uganda, Loms, Rubis Energy, Firdaws, Stanchart, Pride Microfinance, and Centenary Bank, among others.
