Salam Television, our 24/7 channel broadcasting Islamic-inspired content, on Thursday, May 20, 2022, was officially launched as a channel now accessible via the GOtv Uganda platform.
Salam Television is now available to our viewers across all GOtv bouquets; GOtv Supa, GOtv Max, GOtv Plus, GOOtv Value and GOtv Lite packages.
The milestone was officially announced at a press conference held in the Next Conference Centre addressed by Salam Television and Multichoice Uganda leadership, Muslim leadership in Uganda, and representatives of various orphanages from across Uganda.
Sheikh Muhamood Sebugwawo Kibaate (former Supreme Mufti of Uganda and Managing Director of the House of Zakah), Sheikh Abdullah Ssemambo (1st Deputy Supreme Mufti of Uganda) and Sheikh Jamir Kassim Ntambi (1st Deputy Mufti of Uganda) were the Muslim clerics in attendance, all also officiating at the event.
In his opening remarks, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, the General Manager of Salam Television, remarked on Salam Television being a family-appropriate mass-market TV station, “We have maintained our image across the market. You should never worry about inappropriate content with us.”
Umar Busulwa, the Salam Television Programs Manager, insightfully highlighted the station’s unique, diverse language range, “We aim to serve and be heard by all, broadcasting in Luganda, Swahili, English, and Arabic. We also look at empowering leaders, boasting health systems, education and relief.”
The GOtv team, led by the MultiChoice Uganda Head of Marketing Lois Aber Kwikiriza, extended their thanks to the Salam Television team for their impact on Uganda’s communities.
“Salam Television brings content in a language so many in Uganda understand, and we are excited for Salam Television programming offered on the GOtv platform. We are also honoured to be partnering with a brand that makes it a part of itself to transform and help vulnerable Ugandans,” Lois Aber Kwikiriza said.
You can watch Salam Television on GOtv Channel 392 and stream it live via the Afro Mobile app.
Since its inception in 2015 as the first Islamic Television station in Uganda, Salam Television has until recently only been available on StarTimes Channel 293.
