In a bid to improve the economic situation of religious leaders, Salam TV, through the Salam Charity Foundation, has extended its supportive hand to different Imams across Uganda.
This time, the focus was on Imams in the districts of Bugisu sub-region in Eastern Uganda, particularly Mbale, Sironko, Manafa and Bududa, as well as the Western districts of Buhweju, Lubiriizi and Sheema.
Over fifty (50) Imams from Bugisu Sub-region received bicycles to ease their transport while disseminating Daawa. Others from the same region, plus their counterparts in the Ankole region each received five (5) goats as an economic boost.
Delivering these items, the Managing Director of Salam Charity Foundation, Hajji Karim Kaliisa, appealed to the recipients to honour the donation and not misuse them by selling or giving them out for other material gains.
On the same note, Hajji Karim encouraged the Imams to keep their mosques active by strengthening the second Pillar of Islam; praying five times a day, in their respective mosques.
“You have to serve as examples to your followers. Encourage them more so male Muslims to pray from the Mosques. You can serve as examples by being the Muadhin and Imam as you preach to others the importance of praying from the Mosque. Please don’t wait for Friday only,” Hajji Karim Kaliisa.
Salam Charity has economically empowered the community in different ways, including recently when over 50 small-scale business people, 120 people living with disabilities, widows and religious leaders received a financial boost from the Foundation.
