‘Hi Skool Kiromo’: Uganda’s best teens’ concert in 2022

The NBS-powered ‘Hi Skool Kiromo’ event, held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Wonderworld Amusement Park in Kansanga, saw thousands of Uganda’s high school students converge in a concert that featured performances by some of the country’s top music and comedy talents, as well as appearances by celebrity guests.

Since its inception, NBS’ ‘Youth Voice,’ hosted by MC Ollo, is a teens-focussed TV show featuring school events, career and healthy living guidance, among others. Through it, Uganda’s leading TV station, NBS, has grown a loyal teen community, which continues to grow to record numbers by the year.

The Hi Skool Kiromo is an event birthed out of ‘Youth Voice.’ Each year, the number of teens attending the event increases in leaps and bounds, clearly making it the country’s best teen get-together. This year was no exception.

One reveller at the event said, “I always come to this event because, unlike the others we have, MC Ollo and his guys always come to our schools, and when we come here, they provide us a platform for us to showcase our talents and creativity.”

Another said, “For me, it is the performances from my favourite stars and the great opportunity for us to interact with our buddies from other schools.”

From the hottest Ugandan acts to the most-promising high-school student singers, rappers, dancers and MCs from various schools, attendees were treated to an exciting and diverse show demonstrating Ugandan youths’ immense talent.

Next Media Head of Corporate Affairs, Desire Derekford Mugumisa, said, “The ‘Hi Skool Kiromo’ is now a key event in NBS’ calendar, and we are proud to see it continue to grow in popularity each year. We want to thank all the teens who attended this year’s concert, and we look forward to seeing even more of them next year!”

Last weekend, some notable performers included Gravity Omutujju, Winnie Nwagi, Ykee Benda, Rickman Manrick, Liam Voice, Martha Mukisa, and VIP Jemo, among others.

Other partners at the event also included Afro Mobile, MTN Pulse, Faras, Psalms Food Industries, and PK Events.

This was surely a day to remember for many in attendance and one not to miss out on the next time it happens. Next are the ‘Youth Voice’ school tours, scheduled to start when schools re-open for 2023.
