Transforming Uganda Together: A Journey of Collaboration Between UNDP and Next Media

In a commendable alliance to propel Uganda’s development agenda, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Next Media Group have forged a strong partnership over the years.

A pivotal moment in this collaborative journey was marked today by signing a memorandum of understanding, solidifying the commitment of both entities to contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s development.

The signing ceremony, graced by Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa and UNDP Resident Representative Elsie Attafuah, showcased the dedication of these organizations to work hand in hand for the greater good.

Next Media’s Deputy Group CEO, Joe Kigozi, commended UNDP’s leadership under Elsie Attafuah, highlighting the remarkable achievements made possible through their collaboration.

“Under her leadership, we have impacted women and youth significantly. Most importantly, as a media house, we have provided a platform for all the communication that UNDP and its agencies aim to convey,” Mr. Kigozi emphasized.

This partnership, serving as an eye-opener for the years ahead, focuses on expediting information and communication flow in the country, championing content creation, and supporting women and youth in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.

“We are pleased about an innovation hub that Next Media has established, which we will support. It provides a space for us to support young innovators, particularly those in the creative industry,” observed the UNDP Resident Representative.

This collaboration is not a recent development; it has been a beacon of hope since the COVID era, with joint projects such as the UNDP KOICA Project, UNDP Nakapiripirit Project, UNDP Owino Project, and UNDP Makerere Project. These projects, focused on economic empowerment and capacity building, have contributed significantly to the country’s development.

As the UNDP Resident Representative’s term in Uganda nears its end, Next Media is advocating for its extension, a testament to this transformative partnership’s positive impact and success.

Together, UNDP and Next Media are not just informing but actively working to transform Uganda, leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s journey towards progress and prosperity.
