Next Media Reaffirms Commitment to Makerere Guild as Legacy of Leadership Comes Full Circle

Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa hosted the Makerere University Guild Executive, led by Guild President Lubega Nsamba, in a meeting that celebrated shared purpose, leadership, and a lasting partnership.

The Guild team visited the Next Media Park to express appreciation for the continued collaboration—ranging from event coverage and internship opportunities to leadership mentorship that has benefited generations of students.

In an unexpected but powerful moment, Kariisa shared his own history as a former Minister of Academic Affairs at Makerere University (1998/99). He reflected on founding the Academic Forum, a platform for student leaders to voice concerns and push for reform. In a surprising twist, it emerged that Guild President Nsamba had recently used that very platform to advocate for a tuition policy review—unaware that it was created by the man he was meeting.

“Seeing his reaction was priceless,” Kariisa said. “It reminded me how impactful student leadership can be when done with purpose.”

He encouraged the student leaders to take their roles seriously, noting that Makerere has long been a launchpad for national leadership. Kariisa pointed to notable alumni like Hon. Oboth Oboth, Odonga Otto, Richard Todwong, and others who now shape the country’s future.

Next Media is also proud to announce its support of the upcoming further solidifying a partnership built on legacy, leadership, and transformation.
