The search for Uganda’s next media stars came to life at the Next Creata Hub on Thursday, March 19, as shortlisted participants gathered for the live auditions of the Next Big Voice. One after another, young creatives stepped up to the mic, each bringing their own style, voice, and presence.
The auditions ran from the afternoon into the evening, with participants taking their turn to present, introduce, engage and many showed clear potential. It was a day that showed how many young people are ready to take on radio if given the opportunity.
Guiding the process was a panel of judges including Patrick “Salvado” Idringi, Cleopatra Koheirwe, and Dr. Mitch Egwang. They listened closely to each performance, focusing on clarity, confidence, and the ability to connect with listeners.
The journey to this stage began online. Next Radio 106.1 FM, called on young people across the country to record short demos and share them on social media using the hashtag #NextBigVoice. The response was strong, with many stepping forward to try out for a chance to be heard.
The live auditions were also streamed on NBS Plus via AfroMobile, allowing audiences to follow the process as it unfolded. Viewers got to see the different voices coming through and take part in the journey of discovering new talent.
The process continues from here. The strongest participants from the auditions will move forward to the next stage, where they will be assessed further and guided as they grow into on air personalities. The goal is to identify voices that can connect with listeners and carry the sound of Next Radio.
Through the Next Big Voice, Next Radio continues to create a path for young people to step into media.
