We stood in solidarity with children battling cancer as NBS Television, AfroMobile, and Next Radio partnered with the 4th Edition of the Childhood Cancer Colour Run held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Uganda Cancer Institute.
Held under the theme “Behind Every Step is a Child’s Story,” the run brought together thousands of Ugandans, corporate teams, families, survivors, and advocates in a collective effort to raise awareness about childhood cancer and support children currently undergoing treatment.
The initiative, organised by the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation, continues to shine a light on one of the country’s urgent health challenges. In Uganda, hundreds of children are diagnosed with cancer every year, yet many never complete treatment because of transport costs, limited support systems, and financial strain on families.
Through this partnership, we amplified the stories behind the run across television, radio, and digital platforms, while also mobilising Transformers to actively participate in the cause. Teams from across the organisation turned up in large numbers, taking part in both the 5KM and 10KM runs in support of children and families affected by cancer.
The partnership reflects our continued commitment to using media as a force for impact, guided by our mission to Inform to Transform.
Following the run, Anne Juuko commended Next Media for its contribution and involvement in the initiative.
“Next Media lives by a powerful mission: Inform to Transform. This morning, you did exactly that. You informed Uganda that childhood cancer is real, that it is urgent, and that it demands a response, not with words, but with your feet, your energy, and your hearts,” she shared.
She added that media has a bigger role to play in shaping change across communities.
“Media is not just about telling stories. It is about changing them. The story of childhood cancer in Uganda is one that needs to be told louder and more often, and Next Media has the reach, the talent, and the courage to tell it.”
The Childhood Cancer Colour Run continues to grow into a national movement focused on reducing treatment abandonment, strengthening psychosocial support for families, and raising funds to support children undergoing treatment through transport, nutrition, and supportive care.
For us, participating in initiatives like this goes beyond sponsorship. It reflects our belief in community impact, compassion, and standing with causes that matter to Ugandans.
As thousands ran through Kampala covered in colour, every step carried a reminder that behind every child fighting cancer is a story that deserves support, hope, and a chance to thrive.
