Friday, March 11, 2022, was a day looked forward to by many a Ugandan basketball fan largely because for the first time in a very long while, the action on the Lugogo Indoor Arena court will have delivered tremendously.

However, for Sanyuka Television, the day was the much-awaited day – the day delivery of the first live broadcast of the 2022 National Basketball League, opening our account with the tense encounter between newcomers, Nam Blazers, and record seven-time back-to-back defending champions, City Oilers. The Nam Blazers carried the day with their 72-65 victory.

There is plenty for Ugandan topflight basketball for fans to be excited about, and select games will be coming to them LIVE on their TV screens and mobile phones.

Up next on the menu is a;

  • Victoria University – Sharing vs. JKL Dolphins at 10 AM (Men)
  • JKL Lady Dolphins vs. Magic Stormers at 12 PM (Women)

After much delay because of COVID-19, the addition of broadcast to the games has been a very welcome addition for a league so long-awaited.

While speaking at the launch of the 2022 NBL season, Next Media Services Head of Corporate Affairs, Desire Derekford Mugumisa, said: “We are confident that this partnership will give the deserved mileage to our players, clubs, sponsors and our game, and will go a long way to add value to our league. We believe that this five-year partnership we have with FUBA will bear fruit.”
