MTN Uganda, Salam Television and Salam Charity in yet another successful Ramadhan campaign

Together with Salam Charity under Salam Television, MTN Uganda has, for over the last six years, through their Muslim staff, reached out to vulnerable communities across Uganda and delivered charity items to them during the month of Ramadhan.

Over these years, Ramadhan seasons have been kicked off with a sumptuous dinner hosted by the respective companies’ CEOs – MTN Uganda’s Wim Vanhelleputte and Next Media’s Kin Kariisa.

2022 saw the gesture go a few steps higher; this time around also extended to Uganda’s major cities away from the central. Guided by Salam Television General Manager Alhaji Dr. Abdul-Karim Kaliisa, the MTN Uganda team hosted hundreds of key Muslim customers and leaders in the cities of Mbale, Mbarara and Gulu.

Haruna Mubiru, the Salam Charity General Manager, outdid himself, ensuring that the regional dinners were complimented by the usual delivery of charity items in the Refugee Settlements of Nakivaale in Isingiro and two other settlements in Elegu and Kisoro.

“Not only does it allow us to identify with our Muslim customers’ passion for an Islamic Pillar, but it also avails us a chance to give back to all Ugandans with a voice and data offer every day,” said MTN Uganda’s Ian Mugambe.

The 2022 Ramadhan activation climaxed at the MTN Uganda-Next Media Services Staff Dinner at Protea Hotel, where Mr. Mugambe expressed his gratitude to the team that ensured the countrywide campaign was a success, “I may not say this enough to you guys, but I would be amiss if I did not let each of you know how you have blessed me this season. I look forward to winning all the more together as a team and as individuals as we serve the customers we love.”

There is one final dinner when MTN Uganda, Salam Television and Salam Charity flag off pilgrims to Mecca in June.

Salam Television is one of the Next Media Services platforms, this one particularly focused on the Islamic faith and the betterment of Ugandans through content.
