Kin Kariisa Ends Rotary Presidency, Pledges Continued Service and Impact

One year after taking office as President of the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, our Group CEO Kin Kariisa has officially concluded his tenure, leaving behind a year marked by service, growth, fellowship, and community impact.

On June 5, 2026, Kariisa handed over leadership of the club to Maria Odido, who assumes the presidency for the 2026-2027 Rotary year.

Reflecting on his time as president, Kariisa expressed gratitude to club members, district leaders, and partners whose support enabled the club to deliver meaningful projects and strengthen its contribution to communities.

Speaking directly to incoming President Maria Odido, Kariisa noted that she was inheriting a club defined by unity, commitment, and active participation.

“Your work will be easier because the members of this club are supportive, cooperative, and committed to serving others. Together, they have made many of our achievements possible,” he remarked.

Kariisa’s presidency, which began on June 28, 2025, was characterised by several impactful initiatives. Among them was the transformation of Kigo Prisons Primary School through investments in education, sanitation, and environmental sustainability.

The club commissioned modern solar-powered sanitation facilities for boys and girls, established a library to support learning, donated supplies worth UGX 50 million, and undertook tree-planting activities to promote environmental conservation.

The Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf also advanced maternal and child healthcare through the Tee for Mama Golf Fundraiser, which raised over UGX 100 million toward equipping the Mama Kariisa Maternity Ward at Rubaare Health Centre IV.

Under Kariisa’s leadership, the club expanded its membership, strengthened governance structures, adopted digital systems that improved administration and accountability, and qualified for Rotary Global Grants for the first time in its history.

The club’s impact extended beyond Uganda through strategic partnerships with Rotary clubs in Rwanda, strengthening collaboration and fellowship across borders.

The Rotary year also saw the club emerge as one of Uganda’s top-performing Rotary clubs, earning multiple district recognitions and contributing close to USD 200,000 to The Rotary Foundation, making it the highest-giving Rotary club in Uganda during the 2025-2026 Rotary year.

Kariisa also acknowledged the role of media in amplifying Rotary’s work, noting that partnerships with NBS and AfroMobile helped showcase stories of service and impact from Rotary clubs across the country.

As he handed over leadership, Kariisa thanked District Governor Christine and the wider Rotary fraternity for their guidance and support throughout the year.

The ceremony marked the end of a remarkable chapter for the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, one defined by service above self, transformational community projects, strong fellowship, and a shared commitment to creating lasting impact.

While a new leadership team takes charge, Kariisa’s message remained clear: service continues, impact continues, and the mission to improve lives remains unchanged.
