This Week at the #NextMediaPark (April 13 – April 19, 2026)

This past week was a week beyond the headlines, and our brands carried the story. We traded the newsroom for the courtroom, the debate stage for the school construction site, and the studio for the streets. From seeking justice for the littlest voices to shaping Uganda’s next generation of creators, our brands didn’t just report the week we carried it.

The week began with the Next Creator Program 1 trainings, which ran throughout the week. The initiative brought together young, like-minded creatives eager to learn, grow, and earn. Participants were equipped with practical skills in digital marketing, graphic design, and broadcasting, progressing from foundational concepts to more advanced techniques. The sessions were facilitated by industry professionals committed to nurturing emerging talent and expanding opportunities within Uganda’s creative sector.

On Monday, NBS and Sanyuka took coverage to the community church grounds, where they broadcast proceedings from the trial of Okello Onyum, who stands accused of killing four toddlers at a daycare centre in Ggaba. The coverage ensured that the public remained informed on a case that has gripped national attention.

Tuesday saw a shift to Nakaseke, where the nine-day retreat for NRM Members of Parliament concluded. Viewers followed newly elected MPs as they toured President Museveni’s farm in Ngoma, gaining insights into leadership.

That same day, Salam TV covered the visit of Al Najrani Jasan Mansour from the Islamic University of Madina, hosted by Dr. Rashid Yahyah Ssemuddu. The reception, attended by Hajja Kaliisa MD Salam TV and Salam Charity, marked a significant moment in strengthening ties between Ugandan and international Muslim leadership.

On Wednesday, NBS spotlighted youth voices by bringing national attention to young leaders advocating for greater inclusion in government and increased access to ideological training following the Kyankwanzi retreat.

Later that day, NBS and Sanyuka continued their coverage of the Ggaba daycare case as proceedings resumed at the High Court, ensuring audiences remained updated on developments.

NBS Plus also hosted the Makerere University Business School guild presidential debate at Next Media Park, providing a platform for candidates to present their visions and for students to engage with the future of student leadership.

The day concluded on a vibrant note as Sanyuka hosted another Vibe Session in Makindye, delivering electrifying performances and celebrating Uganda’s dynamic entertainment scene.

On Friday, Salam TV, alongside Hajja Kalissa and Managing Director Charity Salam, inspected the refurbishment of Nakabugu Muslim Primary School in Luuka, highlighting continued efforts to support community development and education.

That same day, the Uganda Marketing Society recognised Next Com for its contribution to advancing the marketing profession in Uganda through strategic partnerships and industry support.

The weekend brought colour and culture. Radio Walla partnered with Plascon Uganda for a gala at Serena Hotel, celebrating collaboration and creativity. Salam TV also covered Da’wah Day 2026, where the Supreme Mufti delivered a powerful message under the theme “The Exemplary Da’ee,” reaching audiences across the country.

That was our week. Courtrooms and classrooms. Leadership debates and community builds. Music vibes and creative training.

We didn’t just watch the week, we lived it with you. Because we stay where the story lives.
