Across Uganda, Next Media brands stayed where stories were unfolding. From national moments to community conversations, our teams reported, broadcast, and connected audiences to the events shaping everyday life. The week reflected how media can bring people closer to information, shared experiences, and opportunities for change.
The week began with Salam TV covering the launch of Tamini General Insurance during a Ramadhan Iftar dinner hosted by Hajati Hadija Namyalo at Millennium Park in Lugogo. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni attended the gathering, where leaders and members of the Muslim community came together in reflection during the holy month.
Midweek, NBS TV broadcast the 15th Tarehe Sita Anniversary Thanksgiving service at the UPDF Headquarters in Mbuya. Leaders, officers, and invited guests gathered to mark the anniversary and reflect on the role of the armed forces in the country’s history. The coverage ensured that viewers across Uganda could follow the national observance.
Also during the week, gospel group Makoma visited the Next Media Park for a tour and a feature on NBS After 5 ahead of their concert in Kampala. The engagement introduced audiences to the artists’ story and built anticipation that later filled Kololo Independence Grounds for the much awaited performance.
Political developments also took center stage when NBS TV covered an address by the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, at the National Unity Platform headquarters in Kavule. The broadcast ensured that the message reached viewers following national political developments.
Later in the week, NBS TV reported from Entebbe International Airport as Ugandan students evacuated from Iran returned home safely following regional tensions. Their arrival brought relief to families and communities across the country. That same evening, NBS TV also covered the Ramadhan Iftar dinner hosted by President Museveni at State House Entebbe, where leaders from government, religious institutions, and the diplomatic community gathered in unity.
In sport, NBS Sport premiered the official documentary chronicling Uganda’s journey through the Rugby Africa Cup 2025. The production revisited the intensity, resilience, and defining moments of the tournament, preserving a significant chapter in Ugandan rugby history.
Community engagement remained central throughout the week. Salam TV, together with MTN Uganda, brought viewers coverage of a Ramadhan Iftar dinner at Mestil Hotel that brought together Muslim business leaders for dialogue and connection. At the same time, Salam Charity continued its outreach work in Luuka District, where leaders met to discuss plans to refurbish Nakabugu Muslim Primary School, an initiative that aims to strengthen education opportunities for young learners.
Friday night marked a major cultural moment as Makoma Live in Concert lit up Kololo Independence Grounds. Through Afromobile, Sanyuka TV, and NBS Music, audiences who could not attend the event in person were able to experience the music and celebration from wherever they were.
Sport continued over the weekend as NBS Sport covered the Uganda Rugby Premiership matches at Makerere University grounds. Fans followed the clashes between Ewes and Heathens, and Impis against Kobs, bringing the energy of local rugby to screens nationwide.
The week concluded with Uganda joining the global community to celebrate International Women’s Day at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. NBS TV broadcast the national celebrations, ensuring that the voices and achievements of Ugandan women reached audiences across the country and beyond.
From national observances and political dialogue to music, sport, and community outreach, the week showed how storytelling can inform, connect, and inspire. These moments reflect more than coverage. They reflect connection, shared experiences, and the impact of bringing stories to the people who matter most.
