Uganda’s first National Lottery, operated by ITHUBA Uganda, has officially launched with a key objective of raising funds to support the country’s infrastructure development, particularly for the upcoming AFCON 2027 tournament. The launch event was held at Next Media Park, with Kin Kariisa, Group CEO of Next Media, expressing gratitude to ITHUBA for investing in Uganda.
Kariisa emphasized that the resources generated from the National Lottery will help address the current challenges in hosting AFCON 2027, due to inadequate sports infrastructure. He assured that the initiative will help build the required infrastructure for the tournament.
“This initiative is for Ugandans. Resources out of this initiative will help Uganda to build sports infrastructure as we prepare for AFCON 2027,” Kariisa said.
ITHUBA Uganda, authorized and regulated by the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB), has a decade-long license to operate the National Lottery. The mission is to transform the lottery into a prosperity-driven venture for Ugandans.
The National Lottery offers numerous benefits, including funding public projects, creating job opportunities, and contributing to economic and social sectors. With a commitment to responsible play, players will have a chance to win life-changing prizes while contributing to critical public infrastructure projects, educational programs, healthcare services, and sports development initiatives.
As the official media partner, Next Media through NBS TV will amplify the messages and educate Ugandans on how to participate in the National Lottery. This collaboration aims to ensure the initiative benefits those it is intended to support.
