Today marked a significant milestone for sports broadcasting in Uganda as NBS Sport officially became the official media broadcaster for the Uganda Golf Union. The partnership, solidified at the Next Media Park, promises to revolutionize golf coverage across the nation.
Joe Kigozi, General Manager of NBS Sport, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing NBS Sport’s commitment to expanding the horizons of Ugandan sports coverage. “Our goal is to go beyond conventional sports broadcasting and delve deep into showcasing golf in Uganda,” said Kigozi. “We are dedicated to bringing comprehensive coverage of all golf activities, ensuring that the sport receives the recognition it deserves.”
The Uganda Golf Union President, Dr. Jackson Were, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of accessibility and public understanding of golf. “This partnership ensures that the public will have unprecedented access to golf content,” Dr. Were remarked. “We are confident that increased coverage will enhance awareness and appreciation for the sport among Ugandans.”
Kin Kariisa, CEO of Next Media Group, emphasized the longstanding collaboration between Next Media and the Uganda Golf Union, spanning over eight years. “This partnership signifies our ongoing commitment to promoting Ugandan sports,” said Kariisa. “Through our diverse platforms—TV, radio, and social media—we will elevate the visibility of golf and other sports, fostering a culture where sports are celebrated and cherished.”
With plans to train NBS Sport reporters in golf coverage, the partnership aims to deliver high-quality, insightful content to a global audience. “Our mission at NBS Sport is to champion Ugandan sport, and this partnership exemplifies our dedication to that cause,” Kariisa concluded.
