This Week at the #NextMediaPark (February 16 – February 22, 2026)

Across Uganda, our teams were on the ground, bringing communities, culture, and national moments closer to the people. From civic life to faith, sport, music, and health, Next Media’s brands stayed where the stories happen.

The week began with remembrance as NBS covered the 49th Commemoration of St. Janani Luwum Day at St. Paul Church of Uganda in Mucwini Sub-County, Kitgum District. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady laid a wreath at the grave of the late Archbishop and his wife, honoring his life of truth and courage.

On Tuesday, NBS brought viewers the proceedings in Butambala, where County MP Muwanga Kivumbi and his co-accused appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with a terrorism case.

Midweek, faith and reflection took center stage. NBS covered the launch of the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting at the Archbishop’s Palace Gardens, Namirembe, led by the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.

That same day, the Data Protection and Cybersecurity Conference convened at Next Media Park under the theme “From Awareness to Action: Strengthening Uganda’s Cybersecurity and Data Protection Readiness.” The event built on the #BeeraKuGuard campaign and focused on practical steps to protect Uganda’s digital space.

Thursday morning, NBS reported from the Uganda Media Centre as the new Trade Order in Kampala City took effect, directing motorcycles, hawkers, and taxis to operate from authorized locations.

Later that evening, NBS After 5 went live from the press conference of Gospel Legends Makoma at Kampala, announcing their upcoming concert at Kololo Independence Grounds. Sanyuka TV and Afromobile will bring the live experience to audiences nationwide.

Friday marked the arrival of Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo and his wife, Ann Mariacricione-Arezzo, at Entebbe Airport, covered live by NBS and Afromobile. Their visit highlighted Rotary’s impact across Uganda. President Arezzo toured the neonatal incubation unit at Kawempe Hospital with Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng, and attended the TRF Recognition Dinner at BCF Courts, Muyenga as Guest of Honour. That evening, Rotary leaders and partners celebrated the transformative work of The Rotary Foundation.

The week also featured community care. Salam TV covered Centenary Bank’s handover of Ramadhan packages to the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Shaban Galabuzi, at Kakungulu Memorial School.

Saturday was a full day of engagement. NBS and Afromobile followed President Arezzo across multiple initiatives, including visits to the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services headquarters, the launch of Oxygen as a Service and the $500,000 Mama Toto Care initiative at Kawempe Hospital, an engagement at National Medical Stores in Kajjansi, and a visit to the Joint Clinical Research Center, welcomed by Health Minister Dr. Ruth Acheng and Dr. Monica Musenero.

Youth energy also shone brightly. NBS Plus and Youth Voice covered the Namagunga and Mwiri prom, #MwiriGungasSosh2026, capturing school spirit and celebration. On the same day, NBS Sport covered the #UnionxSpiro boda boda tournament at Old Kampala S.S., highlighting the riders’ community and their commitment to a stronger, sustainable future. NBS Sport also brought live coverage of the MTN Monthly Tee at Entebbe Golf Club and rugby action at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds.

The week concluded with generosity in action, as Stanbic Bank and Salam Charity Foundation distributed Ramadhan Iftar packages to Muslim communities at Masjid Jamba-Kyanja, Masjid Takwah, and Katta-Matugga.

From honoring heroes to celebrating youth, from global partnerships to community kindness, Next Media remained where the story lives.
