Col. Nakalema Meets Next Media, Backs Media’s Role in Transformation

Today, the Next Media Park welcomed a distinguished guest — Col. Edith Nakalema, Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU). Her visit sparked a rich and candid conversation on the intersection of governance, investment protection, media responsibility, and national transformation.

In her address to the Next Media team, Col. Nakalema underscored the media’s vital role in shaping Uganda’s future, calling on the fourth estate to continue informing with integrity and transforming society through truth and accountability.

In a deeply moving moment of leadership, Col. Nakalema expressed sincere remorse for any past harm caused by security forces to media personnel. “I take responsibility for any harm security forces may have caused you and your people — we are extremely sorry,” she stated. It was a rare but powerful gesture of accountability, met with appreciation and reflection.

Col. Nakalema’s reputation as a steadfast anti-corruption crusader and now a fierce advocate for investor protection through SHIPU speaks to her unwavering commitment to Uganda’s progress.

At Next Media, we recognize and support leaders who stand boldly for transformation. Our mission remains clear: to inform and to transform. We are proud to be partners in building a better Uganda.
